SHAMELESS LEFT EXPLOITS VICTIMS OF FLORIDA SCHOOL SHOOTING
Liberals have no shame!
Since 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the left has shamelessly exploited the victims and used this tragedy for political gain.
In the wake of the shooting, dozens of brainwashed Florida teenagers were bused to the state Capitol in Tallahassee to pressure Republican lawmakers to vote for a ban on semiautomatic rifles. The teens were joined by hundreds of anti-gun activists (organized by Democrats). Their misguided efforts failed as the Republican-dominated body voted 36-71 to reject the measure.
Liberal celebrities like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Amy Schumer and Cher have voiced their support for the anti-gun movement, with Oprah, George Clooney and Steven Spielberg promising donations of $500,000 each!
Stoneman Douglas High School students questioned Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch during a gun town hall hosted by CNN. Liberal Jake Tapper moderated the event, which was packed with thousands of angry anti-gun liberals.
Rubio and Loesch took questions from a handful of students who sounded like they had been coached and were reading scripts prepared by CNN and far-left Democrats. Too bad they weren’t taught manners! The students constantly interrupted, and they were arrogant and rude. It was blatantly obvious they were only interested in attacking the NRA and calling for an outright ban on AR-15 rifles – a slippery slope toward gun confiscation.
Student Camron Kasky challenged Rubio to start turning down campaign contributions from the NRA, and the audience broke out in cheers. Rubio tried to respond, but instead of dealing with this dumb kid and the audience with truth, he tried to be politically correct and looked pathetic.
Despite being heckled and jeered, Dana Loesch addressed the questions calmly with facts. She was still shouted down several times and called a “murderer.” This is the left’s idea of a civil discussion.
Loesch shared the stage with Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, who is now under fire for his department’s poor response to the shooting. During the town hall, Israel told Loesch that she wasn’t “standing up for the students” affected by the massacre. “You just told this group of people that you are standing up for them,” Israel told Loesch. “You’re not standing up for them, until you say I want less weapons.”
The NRA responded and hit back at the sheriff via Twitter:
“No Sheriff Israel you were the one that didn’t PROTECT these children and that is your job. You run the largest fully accredited sheriff’s office in the United States, yet your office failed this community.”
We now know that up to four Broward County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly failed to enter the school during the shooting, including Scot Peterson, who served as the armed school resource officer. Additional Broward deputies are also under investigation into whether they mishandled warnings about Cruz in the months leading up to the shooting.
President Trump also slammed the Florida sheriff’s deputy, suggesting the armed officer behaved like a “coward.”
Sheriff Israel is trying to cover his own behind. His deputies and his department failed to protect the children at the high school. Now he is trying to scapegoat guns and the NRA for his colossal failure. This man must be held accountable and needs to resign!
But the facts didn’t deter leftists from successfully pressuring several cowardly companies to end their ties with the NRA. Enterprise Holdings, First National Bank of Omaha, Symantec and MetLife are among the first to cut and run after a #BoycottNRA hashtag started trending online.
The NRA is not the enemy. I am a lifetime member of the NRA, and they’re some of the most patriotic and God-fearing people in this country. The NRA is willing to work for common-sense solutions, but it’s not going to go along with proposals that won’t work and that will undermine the Second Amendment.
President Trump has called for defensive and offensive measures to protect kids in schools, including training and arming qualified teachers – which is a great idea.
But the left will never go along with these ideas because they don’t want the problem solved. They need these tragedies to attack the NRA and the president to motivate their sorry base to turn out for the 2018 midterm elections.
We have seen this play countless times. A mass shooting occurs, and the default position on the left is to launch an orchestrated campaign to push for gun control. The left uses every emotional situation and crisis to erode our constitutional and God-given freedoms. They created the climate of godlessness, broken families and the lack of respect for life that breeds broken and angry people like the Florida shooter.
People of common sense and truth must deal with the left straight up. Call them out on their hypocrisy, and don’t settle for phony, feel-good ideas that leave kids vulnerable to future mass shootings.
